Elul 5776

Dear Friends,

Another year has flown by, and here we are, Elul 5776 with Rosh Hashanah fast approaching.  The members of the BMTL Vaad would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a K’tiva V'Chatima Tova.  We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the outgoing members of the Vaad: Jenny Katz, Eitan Kupietzky, Rabbi Pesach Wolicki, and Shimmy Kreditor, for their estimable contributions to our kehilla during their time on the Va’ad (and before).  We would also like to thank all those in our kehilla who have contributed in so many ways during the past year.  May the new year of 5777 be filled with bracha, hatzlacha, and shalom for the community as a whole, and for all individually.

The new Vaad has hit the ground running and is hard at work preparing for the Yamim Noraim, as well as the early planning stages for the coming year.  In addition to the overall administration of the shul, each Va’ad member has a primary area of focus which appears next to his/her name at the end of this letter.  However, we truly welcome ideas and involvement from all members of the Kehilla; if you have an idea you would like to see implemented, please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the Va’ad to share it.

We would like to reiterate a message conveyed in last year’s membership letter.  It is a high priority for us that every person who steps into Beit Midrash Torani Leumi feels welcome and embraced by the warmth of our Kehilla   Let’s all of us take it upon ourselves to go over to and engage any unfamiliar faces we see in the shul.  We will all benefit, newcomers and old-timers alike.

Our Beit Midrash is home to several strong daily minyanim, as well as many weekly shiurim that provide a wide variety of learning opportunities for all members of the community. Rabbi David is a constant source of inspiration and model of dedication to both Tefillah and Talmud Torah, and we thank him for his devotion, love and leadership.

Membership Dues

In order to provide for all the needs of our community, we need to maximize the amount of financial and human resources available through annual dues, building fund payments and donations.  We are pleased to report that membership dues for 5777 will remain constant for a sixth consecutive year at NIS 1,350 per family and NIS 675 for a single.  In addition, we have decided to offer a special new-member discount:  dues for first-time members this year will be NIS 1,200.

As always, we ask that everyone who has not completed payment of their building fund pledge to continue moving in that direction.  If you are not yet a building fund member we strongly encourage you to sign up now and begin making donations towards the building fund pledge of $2,000 (7,544 as of 13/09/16) along with your membership dues for 5777.  Building Fund payments are essential for payment of our capital expenses (building improvements, as opposed to operating expenses). This is a one-time obligation of every family in our kehilla, and payments may of course be made in “tashlumim,” spread out over several years.  Payment of the building fund entitles your family to priority seats, discounts on use of the Ulam Selesny Simcha Hall and other privileges.

For your convenience, Vaad members will be in the Beit Knesset to collect dues and building fund payments at the following dates and times:

·        Tuesday, September 13, 8:30 PM -10:00 PM

·        Wednesday, September 14, 8:30 PM -10:00 PM

·        Thursday, September 15, 8:30 PM -10:00 PM

·        Friday, September 16, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

·        Monday, September 19, 8:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Please make every effort to take care of your payment obligations during one of these times.

The Sheinfeld community is served by a number of batei knesset and there are many people who are full members of one beit knesset and yet attend tefillot or other activities at other batei knesset. To enable those who are full members of other batei knesset but regularly avail themselves of our services and to support our shul, we offer associate membership. Associate members are entitled to discounts on use of the Ulam Selesny Simcha Hall and other privileges.  Associate membership dues for 5777 will remain at last year’s rate of NIS 650.  Please note that associate membership is intended only for those people who are full members in another beit knesset.

If you would like to be a member of BMTL but are unable to meet the dues, please contact Shaul Sladowsky 054-300-5139 to arrange accommodations, which will be kept in the strictest of confidence.

Contact Information

We would like to keep the shul records up to date. When you come to pay your membership dues please provide us with a current email address. Please also bring the names of any family members that should appear on the card in the gabbai’s box.

Youth Contact Information

Providing more activities for the youth of our beit knesset is one of the goals of the Vaad. Realizing that the youth often don’t pay attention to the announcements, we would like to be able to send announcements regarding youth activities directly to your children. This will also enable them to feel more a part of the membership.

With their permission and yours, when you come to pay your membership dues please provide us with your child’s or children’s current email addresses.

Yamim Noraim

We hope you will be with us for the upcoming Yamim Noraim. If so, please submit payment for seats with your membership dues payment. Please note that, as always, paying membership dues entitles you to 2 seats for each of the Yamim Noraim. Any additional seat requested for unmarried children will cost NIS 40 for Rosh Hashanah (both days) and NIS 40 for Yom Kippur, or NIS 80 for both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Additional seats for married children or any other guests will be NIS 75 for Rosh Hashanah (both days) and NIS 75 for Yom Kippur, or NIS 150 for both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  Each seat for non-members (and associate members) will cost NIS 125 for Rosh Hashanah (both days) and NIS 125 for Yom Kippur, or NIS 250 for both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

After you have paid membership dues for 5777, you will be able to indicate seating preferences by going to the Membership page of the BMTL website (http://bmtl.org/Membership.php).

Important note: the website seating function will be active only beginning Thursday, September 15, 2016.  Further details regarding this process are on the website. If you don’t have a computer and Internet access, please call Jan Wimpfheimer at 054-809-1000.

Child Care

We are looking into the possibility of offering some groups on Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur to help mothers of young children get to shul.  More information on this will be forthcoming over the next few days.

We look forward to a wonderful, healthy and meaningful year for everyone, filled with success and prosperity for all of Klal Yisrael.
